Funny things the kids said this week

Hailey and Daddy, on changing table:
Daddy: Hailey, we need to get you to use the potty soon. See how stinky this poopy diaper is? Smell it.... see what I mean?
Hailey: Daddy,.... Eat it.

Andrew, trying to climb down from a high bench, and he is stuck:
Andrew: Mommy... Help you. Help you. Help you. (getting more frantic)
Mommy: Hi Drew.. do you want me to help you?
Andrew: HELP YOU! HELP YOU! (desperately trying to get down) HELP YOU!!!

Hailey, while saying hi to Greta:
Mommy: Hi Hails. Say hi to Greta, and give her a hug.
Hailey: Hi baby Greta. (gives hug)
Mommy: Yeh, you guys will be best friends someday. And you will probably share clothes, share make-up, and share boyfriends.
Hailey: Baby Greta. Best friends. Share boyfriends. Share boyfriends.

Andrew, while playing downstairs, and mommy is upstairs:
Andrew: Mommy, come here!
Mommy: Drew, I will be there in a minute
Andrew: Mommy, come here! come here! Right now! Riiiiiiight now. (said exactly like I say it to him when I want him to come) Com'here. Riiiiiiiight now!

Getaway to the Beach

Several years ago, Greg and I joined the young married couples group at our church. (Univ. Pres. Church). It was a fun group of about a dozen couples, and it was before any of us had children. We met once a month at our house, and had a fun time creating new friendships.

Well, a lot has changed, since every couple in the group now has children. We don't meet as often, but still try to get together every other month or so. This past Saturday, we all went to a beach house together on Hood Canal, just for a few hours of BBQ, sun, and sand time. The kids had a great time, and we lucked out with 83 degree weather!

Parks and waterfalls

The kids have had a fun summer going to lots of parks. They love them. Here are a few pics from Shannon Falls park, which is about 40 miles south of Whistler. We stopped on our way home, and had fun playing in the nice weather.

The funniest event at Shannon Falls was the Chinese tourist bus. We literally had about 50 Chinese people taking pictures of the twins (oh, and then of me holding Greta). A&H must have had about 500 pictures taken - too funny! We have no idea who the people are in this photo below!

While we were at Whistler, we found a lot of great parks to enjoy in the summertime. Here are a few pics from Alpha Lake Park, which is only a few minutes from our place.

Smiley Lil' Greta

I managed to snap some pictures of Greta smiling... she is such a cute baby! We, of course, are biased. We couldn't be more grateful for how GOOD she is - she hardly ever cries, and is just so content. She sleeps really well, eats well, and is so pleasant. She couldn't be easier - thank goodness! We love her!

Chekamus River trail run

While we have been in Whistler this last 10 days, I have been able to get in three trail runs all by myself. It has been wonderful, since hiking is one of my favorite activities. And it is somewhat of a special bonus to get a bit of time to myself, since the last two months has been busy with the new baby.

Yesterday I found a great trail that goes alongside the Chekamus River, just outside Whistler. I ran along the west side of the river up a small valley, then crossed a cool suspension bridge which was about 100 feet over the water, then ran back down the east side of the river. It was a cloudy rainy day, but that made it even more fun. :) Here are some pics along the hike, including the bridge.

Brandywine Falls

On our way to Whistler, we stopped at Brandywine Falls for a short hike with the kids. It is about 10 miles south of Whistler, and well worth the short walk from the parking lot. Places like this would be so popular in the USA, but here in Canada, (um, where there are no people), it is completely untouched and pristine.

The funny part of the hike was that Hailey had a "leak" in her diaper and her pants got all wet right before the hike. So... she did the hike in only her diaper. We got lots of looks from others, since I am sure we looked like ghetto parents!

Back in Canada, eh?

We are back in Whistler, British Columbia.... this time for a two-week stay. This is the tail end of Greg's paternity leave, so we decided to stay up here at our place for as long as we could. It is very fun to be here for so long!

The first week here, however, was a bit wraught with sickness. Hailey had a bad ear infection, which lead us to the Whistler Health Centre. Then Greta managed to get the same ear infection a day later... (oh, and an infant ear infection in the middle of the night is NOT fun!) Ugh! Greg was also sick for a few days, and we had lots of runny noses in the house. Luckily for me, I managed to escape it all! A rarity, since I am usually the first to catch a cold!

Now that we are into the second week, we are all healthy, and having a great time. My mom is here for the week, and that has given us quite a bit of freedom (thanks, mom!) Greg and I have been on a spectacular bike ride, have hit golf balls, have been out to dinner a few times, and even hit the pub late one night to watch the Washington Husky football game. I have been on a few hikes, and we are enjoying the fun summer here. Our favorite activity, however, is shopping in Whistler! Nana and I are teaching Hailey and Greta how to shop.... something every girl has got to know how to do!

Breakfast with the twins:

Me, Nana, and Greta - three generations of ladies!

Baby Greta is eight weeks old now... and sleeping 7 hour stretches at night. Good girl!

Hailey has loved doing "activities" with Nana... including the new Elmo sticker book!

The kids love the bath here. This is a funny pic of them playing with their new bath toys..
