Okay, gang! Greg's first blog post. Last night, I stayed up late writing some music that was silly enough to go along with some of the funnier videos we had of the kids. Here's a look at "Andrew & Hailey: Two Crazy Kids." (And yes, the "singing" you hear is me.) :)

A copycat and a crawler
Little Hailey has just started to do 'copycat,' as you can see in this video below. It is pretty dang cute! She just loves to stare into our faces, copying what we do, which, as you would guess, we adore!
And Andrew has taken off on his crawling... he goes everywhere, fast. We finally managed to put up the baby gate at the top of the stairs today, so now he is a free man throughout the house. The video below shows how he is leaving his sis in the dust when it comes to crawling. :)

Curiosity
Hailey is extremely curious... She loves to touch and feel the texture of everything, put everything in her mouth, and investigate all of life around her.
Today, I put her on the floor, and she instantly crawled to the exersaucer, and climbed into the well under it. Somehow she really needed to see what life was like under there. Well, after about a minute, she decided she was perilously stuck, and started crying. Then, after mom rescued her, she proceeded to do the exact same thing two more times! (Um, hopefully she won't be a slow learner!)
This little one is going to keep us on our toes!

Cheerios, Crawling, and new teeth
Update: Andrew now has a tooth!
Update #2: Andrew crawled yesterday for the first time!
See the video below, which shows the little guy scooting around!
The update on Hailey is that she LOVES cheerios. She can play with those little Os for twenty minutes at a time. See the video below....
Also, Hailey is now saying "mama," which I love. I woke up at 7am to her yelling "mama....mama". It was so precious!

All Caught Up!
We are proud to announce that Hailey and Andrew are "all caught up!!"
When a baby is born prematurely, the doctors will always refer to both his real age, and also an 'adjusted age', which is what he would be if he had been born on the correct due date. So, even though the twins are now 9.5 months old as of today, their 'adjusted age' is more like 7.5 months.
It usually takes over a year for a premature baby to "catch up" to the average weight and length he would be if he was born on his original due date. And well, the great news is the both Drew and Hailey have now caught up; they match the size of average 9 month old babies. Our pediatrician was really surprised and proud of them for doing this so soon - usually it takes much longer for a preemie to catch up. Way to go, kids!
The stats:
- Hailey is 18 pounds, 28 inches long, and has a head circumference of 43cm.
- Andrew is 20 pounds, 29 inches long, and has a head circumference of 45cm.
The doctor said great things about how they are doing - they are actually ahead on lots of small parts of development, so we were delighted to hear that. They will be crawling any day now, too! (then the FUN begins!)

Running Errands
Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy doing errands with the twins. I kind of think of it as a challenge! They LOVE being out; they are so curious and love watching all of the people. So, 99% of the time, they are super easy, and just sit in their stroller and watch the sights go by.
Today it was raining outside, so I decided to head to Old Navy and Target to do some walking and shopping. I have a good system now of stocking up on stuff at Target: I bring a bungee cord with me, so that I can attach a shopping basket to the front of my stroller. And then I "let" Andrew and Hailey hold the giant size diapers. We are quite a sight to see, and I usually get my share of comments from people. I love it!
As I was leaving Target, looking like I was in the picture below, I heard two old ladies behind me say "Well, now that woman has sure got a lot on her hands - now would'ya just look at that." Then the other said "oh, yeh? just wait 'til they are 16...." Too funny.

Whistler
We just returned from a fabulous long weekend in Whistler, British Columbia. Greg and I have a special place in our hearts for Whistler, because it was where we first spent time together when we started dating. A lot has changed since then! ...and it is still one of our favorite places in the world to be.
We were lucky enough to get in one fantastic day of skiing -with great snow, and the sun shining most of the day. Greg's mom drove up from Vancouver to watch the kids, which was great. Aside from that, we walked through the charming village, sat in the hot tub, and enjoyed mellow evenings on the couch. The kids were absolutely delightful; we had the most wonderful time with them. It was almost like they knew we were on vacation and supposed to be extra fun.
On the way out of town, we stopped to look at a townhome development where we might purchase real estate sometime in the next few years. After about 30 seconds, we were hooked and convinced we just 'had' to own a home there someday. Now we just need the US dollar to be worth more than the Canadian dollar!

A typical stay-at-home-mom day....
Now that I am working part-time, I get 2.5 days a week where I am a stay-at-home mom. So, Tuesdays and Friday are precious days to me.... days where I just play with the kids and don't leave the house all day!
So, here are some of the things I usually do on my stay-at-home mom days:
- take the kids for a long walk in the stroller (they love this!)
- make my homemade baby food (yum - boiling sweet potatoes, mashing bananas, cooking brown rice, mashing pears, etc.)
- laundry, and more laundry.... and try to do other housework
- give the kids a bath, read stories, play with toys, sing songs, etc.
- do things like organize the nursery (today I put away all of their 3-6 month old clothes - so sad!)
- oh, and of course, feed the kids 5 times a day. They eat every 3 hours, like clockwork... and they love their milk and their baby food!
Other tidbits:
- The kids are eating a wider variety of food now; they eat lots of mashed veggies, plus fruits, and now grains like oatmeal and rice. Today Andrew was eyeing my PBJ with intense envy, so when he finally managed to swipe it, he squeezed it really hard and put it in his mouth. Jelly everywhere. :) Little Hailey LOVES bananas - she will refuse all other food when she is full, and then we give her a bite of bananas and she eats the whole jar!
- Here are some pics I took of the kids throughout the day today. Hailey has the most beautiful face and smile - she is so adorable to us. Andrew is so full of life and energy - he loves to play, jump around, and kick his legs. These are pics of a) Hails in her exersaucer walking around the kitchen b) on our daily walk c) lunchtime d) Andrew playing with his Magical Sounds piano, which he loves.

Piano Girl
Hailey and Andrew love to play piano with daddy. He holds them in his lap while he plays, and they just think the music is so fun. Lately, Hailey has really loved learning to play piano herself! She pounds on the keys, and touches every key she can reach... I think we have a budding music star on our hands! It is funny to listen to Greg play a song, while Hailey is adding a odd note here and there, too!
