There is an awesome sand dune island just 250 yards into Puget Sound, off the shoreline in Everett. In the summertime, there is a free ferry you can walk on that takes you across to the island, which is called Jetty Island. I took the kids there with a friend of mine and her kids; we had a fabulous warm day in the sun. We had a fun picnic and ended up staying for five hours!

Whistler with Nana and Charlie
In August, we spent a lovely week in Whistler with special guests Nana and Grandpa Charlie. We gave them the royal treatment, showing them all of our favorite things about the area! Some of the things you will see in the pics below:
- We played a few rounds of golf at some of the beautiful courses in the Whistler area. We recommend them… oh, and packing extra golf balls, too.
- We took the gondola to the top of Whistler mountain for an all-you-can-eat BBQ. We also took the Peak-to-Peak gondola from the top of Whistler over to Blackcomb; it is a beautiful new gondola that goes 1400 feet above the ground . Eek!
- We took a little hike in the woods over the Cheakamus River suspension bridge. Always my favorite. Other events include a mommy-Andrew bike ride, a picnic at Meadow Park, a mommy-Hailey hike in the river, afternoons by the pool, and a boys breakfast out.
Come visit us at Whistler! We promise five-star entertainment!

A day in Tacoma
We spent a full day in Tacoma, first visiting the Point Defiance Zoo, and then spending the afternoon with Uncle Robbie. We visited him at his office, where he works at University of Washington in Tacoma. We were happy to be the first family members to get the full tour of his work scene. Robbie even took us to get cupcakes at the end of the day!
At the Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, where we got to see the animals, feed parakeets, ride the carousel, and eat ice cream…
