Old sign, new sign

If you know me, then you know that I love a good project! I came up with an idea for a fun project last summer, and well, finally got around to doing it last month. The project was to make a new sign for the end of the driveway at my dad's cabin in northern Wisconsin.

My dad's family (the Ericksons) have always had a cabin... My grandpa Ralph had a cabin on Lake Amnicon in WI for decades. Then when our family sold that one, my dad bought a cabin on a lake near Hayward, WI. And well, the one constant over all of those decades was that the old sign in the picture below always hung at the end of the long driveway. So, you can see the old Erickson sign in the second picture below. I actually think my grandpa Ralph made this about 50 years ago... literally. It is rotted and in pretty bad shape. So, I got the idea to make a new one, which I finally just did and mailed to my dad in Minnesota for his 71st birthday (yesterday!).

I took a picture of the old sign on my camera phone last summer, while visiting the cabin. Then Greg helped to take that photo on the computer and make a large image of it, which I then traced onto a big piece of wood. So, the lettering and font are identical to the old sign. Then after a few coats of black and white paint, plus several coats of polyurethane, it was done.
It was a fun project, and hopefully this sign will last a few decades, too!!

The new sign!

The old sign. Yes, it really is rotten and moldy-looking like that...

More park pics...

I spent this am at the park... with my camera again. I focused on taking pics of A&H, since I already took so many of Grets earlier this week. Drew was particularly hard to photograph because every time I asked him to smile, he gave me one of those dorky 3-year old boy smiles! So, I got a lot of good pics of Hailey, and a few more of Drew....

These are some huggable kids, eh?

Cutest pics of Greta

Okay, I am biased, but Greta is SO CUTE! I took her to the park this am and snapped a bunch of pictures of her. Also, there are a few pics I took of her yesterday at our house. Check out her adorable smile. She is growing up right before my very eyes.

Love this girl!!!!!!!!!

Our Princess Greta

Little Greta is turning into the cutest princess! I am not even certain where this outfit came from, but Greta loves to wear this... along with the new pink glasses we just got. These are sweet times with young kids - the princess years! The videos below show her in action...
