Last week, I took the kids to the Zoo in Seattle. We had a delightful time, and it was one of their big highlights of the summer. Greta especially went bonkers, as this was the first time she had seen many of these animals in real life. (Her favorite book these days is "Good Night, Gorilla," so she was tickled to see a gorilla up close!)
The surprise best part of the zoo is the wonderful beautiful carousel there. We rode that and it was super - the kids keep talking about it and really want to go ride it again. Also, we arrived at the giraffe area right during feeding time, so we got a chance to feed the giraffe ourselves. The kids thought this was great, too, and of course, keep talking about it. We also saw the lion very close, plus the gorilla. There is a cool penguin exhibit where you can watch the penguins swim underwater; we stayed there a long time. It was a great visit!
The most hilarious thing is how much Greta has been talking about the Zoo since we went last week. She carries around the Zoo map, and points out all of the animals we saw to anyone who will listen. Then this is the conversation we have heard out of her about fifty times a day:
Greta: "Mommy... Go zoo, one more time? Feed giraffe? Say hi to gorilla? Zoo map - wook, wook (look, look). See tiger here. Elephant... bath... eat carrots. Go zoo, more time? Ride Gus? (the name of her horse on the carousel). Ride Gus? Up down. up down. Feed giraffe? See tiger. See bear? Zoo map. Wook, wook!" Pig go poop! Ride Gus? Go zoo? more time? Monkeys so youd! (loud). So youd! Gorilla? Zoo map!!"
