K&K Visit Whistler
We were in Whistler this June and we had a lovely five day visit from my parents, Kirby and Katie. We took them to the usual highlight spots, including the Cheakamus River suspension bridge, the gondola at the top of the mountains, and our favorite dinner spots. The weather was lovely, so we enjoyed time by the pool and walking through the village. The highlight, of course, is always seeing so many bears!

Visiting Tillicum Village on Blake Island
In June (or Juneuary, actually), we took an Argosy Cruise out to Tillicum Village for an evening. Tillicum Village is a Native American village that offers an evening of entertainment, accompanied by a yummy salmon bake dinner. The village is on an island just off Seattle called Blake Island. The whole island is protected with Native American rights, so there are no buildings, roads, or houses on the island, other than the main lodge at Tillicum Village.
So, the evening included lots of Native American dancing, singing, and tribal stories. The meal was a delicious and we had fun enjoying the whole buffet. After the dinner, we hiked around the island the shoreline for a while. It was a very adventuresome evening! The highlight for the kids was riding in a fun boat for 45 minutes each way to get to the island. This is a great must-do event if you are ever in Seattle!

To the Zoo!
I hit a parental rite of passage this week: Going on the school field trip to the ZOO! I was one of the lucky chaperones for the kindergarten class trip to the Woodland Park Zoo. I had a ton of fun with the kids, and it was not stressful one bit. (I think it is key to have other moms on the trip that you enjoy, too!)
Andrew and Hailey were especially happy to take their FIRST ride in a school bus! We sang “The Wheels on the Bus!” The zoo was great because we saw so many interesting animals! (Oh, and yes, you will see in these pics that Hailey is missing a front tooth and a bottom tooth!)
